Sow a seed. Reap a Harvest.
Seeds of Knowledge Inc.(SOW), is a federally approved 501 (c) 3 non profit organization committed to supporting the educational needs of not so privileged school children in rural and urban Africa.
Who We Are
We are a diverse group of men and women from all nationalities and walks of life.
We are Africans, Americans, Asians and Europeans.
We are accountants, businessmen, businesswomen, college professors, executives, homemakers, school teachers, graduate, undergraduate, high school and middle school students, all committed to making a difference in the lives of children.
In the summer of 2003, I was asked to serve as a consultant on the TAGS (Textbooks for A Global Society) project, a component of the Bush administration Africa Education Initiative (AEI) program to improve educational opportunities for Africa's children. As a native of Benin, I assisted the TAGS representatives in conceptualizing and writing supplemental textbooks that were later distributed to Benin children. We traveled to Benin to observe the educational situation. I was shocked and disheartened by the deterioration in infrastructure, yet encouraged by students and teachers' attitude.
Despite the lack and absence of basic school supplies, textbooks, students desks and dire learning conditions students were still eager to learn and teachers ready to teach. Upon my return to the States, I decided to do something to transform the lives of the children. I remained in touch with teachers, principals and trusted local organizations to provide funds for textbooks, school supplies, and academic programs for the children. I also worked tirelessly to register Seeds of Knowledge, Inc. (SOW) as a federally approved non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
I look forward with much anticipation to your participation and for great things to happen for the children's sake. Thank you in advance for your support.

Starting with the country of Benin , West Africa, SOW seeks to fulfill its mission by accomplishing the following goals in underserved areas of Africa:
1. Meet children's basic academic needs by providing sorely
needed educational materials and academic programs.
2. Build and/or renovate classrooms.
3. Build reading centers (Long-term goals: Build schools).
4. Provide additional instructional resources for teachers.
Our accomplishements so far:
Summer of 2010:
1. We put textbooks, workbooks and school supplies in the
the hands of to over 1000 children in four schools: Lake,
Gbagla-koke, Lotin-Gbegode and Hinhoude.

three schools: Gbagla Koke, Lotin-Gbegodo and
Hinhoude.
Summer 2009:

hands of over 500 children in three schools: Gbagla-
Koke, Lotin Gbegoedo and Hinhoude.
2. In Gbagla-Koke we provided 120 tins to replace badly
damaged tatchered roofs.
Summer of 2006-2007.
1. We provided summer academic programs for children in
the schools of Akokponawa, Gbeko and Hinhoude.
2. We provided yearlong academic intervention programs
in the school of Hinhoude.
We do it because we value education even for the less privileged.
We do it because we want to make a difference in the lives of children who live in a country (Benin) where 74% of the population survive on less than $2 a day according to the United Nations Development program (2007) report.
We do it because we have witnessed the following dire learning conditions in some rural and urban communities in Benin:
1. Windowless and/or roofless classrooms.
2. Classrooms that cannot sustain rainy or wind conditions.
3. Red clay floors that become muddy after the rain.
4. Children and teachers holding classes under trees for lack of desks
and benches.
5. Lack of basic school supplies such as chalk, slates, pen, pencils, etc.
6. Scarcity of textbooks and workbooks.
7 . Scarcity of libraries, supplementary reading materials for
underserved children.…
8. The list goes on and on...
We do it because we CARE!
Book Distribution
Our yearly goal is to distribute textbooks, activity books and school supplies to 200 children in underserved rural and urban areas in Africa (starting with Benin).
In 2008, we surpassed our goals . We distributed books and school supplies to over 500 children in three schools: Gbagla-Koké, Lotin-Gbégodo, and Hinhoudé.
In 2010 we distributed books and school supplies to over 1000 children in four schools: Gbagla-Koké, Lotin-Gbégodo, Hinhoudé and Laké.
Thanks to all of you who made this possible. SOW and the children of Benin say MIWANOU, MERCI, THANK YOU!

Reading Hour
In 2010, during and following our trip to Benin, reading hours were organized with books written and illustrated by French students at Kennesaw State University (KSU) (GA). With no library on school property the children, principals and parents representatives were both ecstatic and grateful to have beautiful books especially made for them by students in America.
C hildren avidly read their captivating picture and story books and proudly displayed them for all to see.
We want to thank all KSU students who participated in the virtual learn and serve project. Our special thanks to the French professors who diligently supervised the project and corrected students' work: Mme Vainer, Mme Bray & Dr. Hoyt .
[McIntosh students books have not yet been shipped to Benin. However we want to say thank them as well as and their French teacher, Mme Porto!]
If you or your school or a Unversity and would like to participate in the book writing project please email us at seedsowers_comcast.org.
Thank you in advance.
